This movie, drawn from the book Yacoubian Building, talks about a mythical building in Cairo and the political evolution of the Egyptian society in the past fifty years, from the end of King Farouk’s reign to the arrival of the Moslem Brothers to power. It fustigates some irregularities in the Egyptian society. In background, is the question: "How can a society, known as modern and open minded, turn into a one often described as intolerant?"
