PRESELECTION
1. AIM
The aim of the festival is to encourage and stimulate the Film
Industry, and platform young talent from the Mid East region. To
highten public awareness in cultural development in the region.
2. SELECTION
For the selection of films only, VHS or DVD prints are required.

3. SUBSRIPTION
Application forms have to be completed and signed by the
owner of the rights and returned to the Festival offices
accompanied by:
- Synopsis (approx. 20 lines)
- Biography, filmmography of Director
- Technical details
- Press clippings on the film, if it has already been released.
Once the film has been selected, the festival will require the
following material:
- Several still photos taken from the film
- Recent photograph of the Director
- Photographs of leading stars
- Press kits on film (about 25 copies)
- Posters (10)
- Dialogue list in English
- Video flyer for television promotion
4. DEADLINE DATE
Applications should be accompanied by VHS copy and sent to
Festival headquarters in Beirut by end June 2006 (forwarding
delays to be taken into consideration).
Festival organizers will inform applicants of their selection
latest by end July 2006. After this date unselected copies can
be picked up from festival headquarters, or returned by courier
upon request of applicant.
The 35mm copies of films selected should be in Festival
headquarters by 20 September 2006. No film can be withdrawn from
Festival before the end of the festival.
5. ADDITIONAL SCREENINGS
The Festival abides to not hold for each film more than the
three screenings allowed by the International regulations.
6. EXTRACTS FOR TELEVISION AND MEDIA
Producers or their representatives are encouraged to send film
extracts for television and press material, for promotional
purposes.
7. CATALOGUE
The Festival will undertake to enter in catalogue, full name and
address of producers, distributors, or/ and owners of rights under
each film entered for screening.
8. FREIGHT OF FILM COPIES
Copies should be sent to festival headquarters by special courier.
The sender should inform Festival headquarters “attention
Secretariat”, the title of the film, mode of shipping, date of
shipment.
Festival headquarters should be informed of any change of address
for return of copy.
9. FREIGHT CHARGES OF SHIPMENT
Cost of shipment and customs clearance expenses on the way in are to
be paid by producer/or entity in charge. For return shipment,
festival will cover expenses. This covers selected films, and VHS
copies sent for selection.
10. INSURANCE
The festival will cover insurance of film from date of receipt of
copy in festival offices, till date of delivery to shipper.
In case of loss or damage of copy of film, the Festival organizers
will be responsible to reproduce a copy of film from the appointed
laboratory. This covers selected or non-selected films.
If producer or representative lend out the copy, Festival organizers
will not be responsible for any damage incurred on copy.
11. PRIVATE SCREENING
Festival organizers will not allow private or public screening of
film outside the festival program, unless otherwise authorized by
producer or representative and Festival organizers.
12. SELECTED FILMS
Festival organizers will decide when and where selected films will
be screened.
- Upon selection of films to be screened at the Festival, the owners
of such films agree to reserve their initial screening in Lebanon
for the Beirut International Film Festival.
- Festival organizers shall cover the expenses of invited
directors/actors, of a round trip ticket and three nights stay in
Beirut for one person.
13. PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES
The organizers will not levy participation charges. Participants
agree without reservation to abide by the rules and regulations of
the Beirut International Film Festival.
The Festival reserves the right to cancel entry into competition or
non competitive category, or cancel a competition if it deems it
necessary for the festival image.
Arbitration: Final conflict resolution resides in the supervisory
committee who will also adopt the International Regulations
guidelines to resolve all other disputes.
