INFORMATION
The Beirut International Film Festival is headed by the Beirut Film Foundation.
The Festival is in its 8th edition. Its focus is on the Middle East whereby it holds a competition for Middle Eastern Feature and short films.
The region the competition covers: Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Yemen, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, & Tunis.
Aim of the Festival is to encourage and platform young talent from the Mid East. And, to develop co-production with the Arab and International community.
PROGRAMMING The Festival screens 35mm, 16mm films and Betacam. Competition for Mid Eastern/Arab Feature, & Short Films. Out of competition International feature films are screened. Tribute to a famous Film personality.
Question and Answer sessions are organized.
VENUE Screening of the films is held in the theaters of the Sofil Empire and Concorde Planete. Opening and closing films are held at UNESCO Palace.
GUESTS: The Festival invites approximately 40 guests a year including, Directors, Producers, Actors, Festival Delegates and International Press. The guests include a 7 member Jury from the international film and arts community
FINANCING. The festival is financed by sponsors, The Ministry of Tourism and the Lee Gund Foundation, and donations by the Executive committee.
